Watching the reaction of Messrs Bush & Blair following HAMAS's win in the Palestinian elections it makes you realise that their championing the spread of democracy in the Middle East and Muslim lands is quite hollow. Did they look happy when they heard that the people of Palestine overwhelmingly voted to bring HAMAS into office? No they didn't. In fact, they looked quite annoyed about it.
And you can bet that if free and fair elections were held across the Middle East, you would find one Islamic party after another coming to power because alhumdulillah, the general public still have a strong attachment to their religion in these places.
Do you think Bush & Blair would sit happy and respect the wish of the Egyptian public if the Ikhwan were elected to power? I don't think so.

Technological advancements don't make you civilised
A friend of mine was telling me that when he was in Saudi towards the end of his Hajj trip he heard the shocking news of the men who raped a three-year old in this country, and he made a comment which i think is very true. He said that this country (and the West also) are no more civilised (if not less civilised) than the countries they accuse of being uncivilised and who need to see the light of western culture.
And i believe this is true. Where else but in places like Britain do you hear of gangs of youth going round kicking innocent people to death? In third world countries like Egypt which still have a very traditional culture you will never see signboards (like i did yesterday in the Tesco's carpark) asking for witnesses to help find people who robbed or mugged old-age pensioners.
Perhaps a group of people should start up a blog or a website to just document the unsavoury nature of Western culture using Western media sources itself so that people can see at a glance how civilised the UK (and the West) are. All you'd need to do is to provide a headline and a link.
When having sex with a stranger just to gain some money becomes attractive to so many with offers for sponsorship and advertising to promote such, you know that the West's claim of having moral authority and a level of civilisation superior to that of the non-Western world is just fiction.

Beautiful faces
I was reading a story sometime ago of a woman who converted to Islam and found this really great line that i hope to use in a conversation with a Xtian missionary.
She said:
"I had a baby sister, born a few days before I received my undergraduate degree, and I watched her. I tried to see the sin in her but i couldn't find it."
You know that Xtians believe in the original sin and that each of us carry the sin for an act we didn't do. I'd like to ask a missionary to look into the face of a baby and tell me if it is carrying a sin. Because when you look into the face of a newborn baby all you see is beauty and innocence, and to claim that such a fragile creature already has sin in its account of deeds before it can even fully open its eyes is a sign of an erroneous belief system.
Now i fully expect that some of the hardcore Xtians will hold steadfast to their belief and nod their head "yes sir, this baby carries sin." But there are certainly others out there whose minds are open and whose sincerity i hope will lead them to reject such a belief.
