I got a letter from Ali al-Timimi the other day. He is ok, alhumdulillah; trying to settle into life at prison. Its apparently the wrong one and they will be transferring him to another prison.
There are a few things we can do for him:
- He asked people to make du'a for him, especially while the appeal process is ongoing.
- The appeal process requires funds - around $100,000 needs to be raised. More about that later.
- The website seems to have become stagnant of late. If anyone has the relevant skills please contact the admins of that site and volunteer yourselves to help with the maintenance, and updating of it please! [www.altimimi.org]
From what i know around £15-£20k was raised in the UK this past 9 months for al-Timimi's legal costs, alhumdulillah. If we set ourselves a similar target and reach it, i think we will have done well, insha'Allah (especially given the favourable exchange rate at the moment).
Ali is very appreciative of the work done so far but his fight isn't over yet and he still requires our assistance. So keep him in your du'as, keep this issue in your mind and remind your friends about him.

I was hoping to post some ideas i had on fund raising along with this entry, but that'll have to wait till next time because i need to complete some work before the end of the day.

Newbie Jehovah's witness
On Saturday mornings we have Jehovah's Witnesses doing their work in our locality. They're not all that regular, but its not rare to hear your doorbell ring and find them on your doorstep. For a few weeks they haven't been round and i'd been waiting for them to come so that i could invite them in and speak to them about some things i find confusing about Xtianity. As luck would have it, this week they arrived just an hour before we had guests due to arrive. So i apologised to them for not being able to speak to them and expressed the fact that i hope to see them next week, when one of them pulled out their "Watchtower" magazine. Fair enough, i thought taking it, i suppose i could flick through it in my free time, when the guy who gave it to me with this big grin says "And i've got something for your wife too." Oh yeah?
He then pulled out another copy of Watchtower with a large headline on it saying "Obesity in women." I thought you what???? I saw his JW partner roll her eyes and look to the heavens. Anyhow, i sensed that he was a new recruit and was being broken into the JW da'wah scene, so i overlooked his cheeky comment.
One thing that i do note is that the JWs in my area are people who i've seen around. One of the two who visited me this week used to work at the local bank, so she was definitely familiar, and i think in total there were 6 JWs visiting people on my road. So there is definitely commitment there.
